Thank You and Well Wishes

We deeply appreciate your continued participation and support of the ASPE Seattle Chapter. Your enthusiasm and engagement make our events successful and our community vibrant. On behalf of the Seattle ASPE Board, we wish you a joyful spring season and look forward to seeing you at the Product Show!

Warm regards,

Linda Burman, Seattle ASPE President

VP Technical Report

March Greetings!

Go Seahawks!

Thanks to everyone for being flexible last month as we had to reschedule our Chapter meeting and speaker to accommodate the Seattle Seahawks victory parade in downtown Seattle.  I’d also like to thank our fill-in speaker, Anthony Jones with Cougar System, for stepping in last minute to provide a great presentation on “Control and Control Panels”.  For those who have been asking, our previously scheduled February presentation has been rescheduled for the March Chapter Product Show.

Speaking of the Chapter Product Show…we hope that you can attend the annual ASPE Seattle/ASHRAE Puget Sound Product Show this month on March 18th.  The technical presentation will begin at 3:PM and will be Dave Stark with Rainwater Management System (RMS) and Harry Hasebe with Mitsubishi Chemical America (MCA).  They will be presenting on “Rainwater Harvesting and New Type of Water Storage (FRP Panel Tank)”.

Both the technical presentation and the product show are free to attendees, so we hope to see you there!

Until Next Time…

VP Legislative Report

Hello Seattle ASPE,

Discussions are beginning to take place for proposed 2024 City of Seattle code change proposals. Keep an eye out for CCAB meeting announcements if you are interested in keeping track of these. As far as plumbing and fuel gas code change proposals go, Public Health – Seattle/King County (PHSKC) intends to host a Teams meeting in early May to introduce and discuss PHSKC sponsored proposals with local stakeholders. Look for announcements in the PHSKC monthly newsletter between now and then for more information.

According to the ‘2024 Code Review and Adoption Cycle’ document currently posted on SBCC’s website, it appears the 2024 codes will have an expected effective date of May 3rd, 2027 if things go well. The effective date for the 2024 City of Seattle codes will likely be shortly after.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the ASPE/ASHRAE product show on March 18th!

Women of ASPE Report

March is Women’s History Month – a special time to celebrate the incredible women in our industry and the women of ASPE who continue to lead, build, design, and inspire.

To honor this month, we’re hosting a Women’s Month Happy Hour at Patterson Cellars Tasting Room in SODO on Thursday March 26th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

3861 1st Ave S, Suite D, Seattle, WA 98134 (There is a dedicated parking lot available for guests.)

Join us for an evening of connection, community, and celebration. Enjoy light bites, wine, coffee, and local beers on tap while networking in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

As part of the evening, we will also be assembling Women’s Shelter Care Boxes to donate to a local shelter, supporting women in our community who are navigating challenging times. This is a meaningful opportunity to give back while coming together as an industry. Whether you’re a long-time member or new to ASPE, we invite you to celebrate the women shaping our field. All are welcome!

Please RSVP by scanning the QR code on the flier so we can plan accordingly.

We hope to see you there!
