President's Report

Dear ASPE Seattle Members,

I hope you are already enjoying the summer weather.  I know I am.

Region 4 Meetings

We just had our Annual Regional 4 meetings in sunny San Diego. We spent the day hearing about the latest ASPE news nationally and within our Region.  It was great to meet with the other Chapters as well has partake in some great food and a Saturday night baseball game sponsored by McWayne. I was honored with the Director’s Award Region 4, for leadership in the Seattle Chapter.   Of course, I would not have done it without the amazing team we have in Seattle.

Chapter Elections

Chapter Elections were held last month and as announced April Ricketts will be taking over the position of ASPE Seattle President.  Our group will be in good and capable hands as she steps into this role.  I will now join the Board of Governors for Seattle, so still remaining active in the organization. And I am still the Region 4 Laison for Women of ASPE.

Save the Date - our ASPE Golf outing this year will be held on June 26th at Echo Falls in Snohomish, Starting out with breakfast,  event runs from 7 am – 3:00 pm. VP Legislative Report

Hello ASPE Seattle,

We are deep into code change season for adopting the 2024 construction codes. For the City of Seattle codes, be sure to keep an eye out for scheduled Construction Code Advisory Board (CCAB) meetings. These meeting are your opportunity to provide comment before a proposed code change goes into effect.

At the State level, the CR102 for both the 2024 UPC and the 2024 IFGC have been published. The CR102 is a draft of the final code changes that will go into effect in May 2027 and is meant to be the baseline for public comments. The public comment period is open through June 12th, 2026. You may submit comments via email to [email protected], or attend the hearing in person in Olympia on June 10th.

 See you in September,

-DP
